About Me
Technology should work for you, not the other way around.
I've loved technology ever since I was a kid. It started with video game systems and remote control cars. Then it was a home computer (a Macintosh Performa LC575). Then the internet (AOL dial-up). Then a pager, T-1 lines, DSL, surround sound, better video games, bigger TV's, and now, it's iPads, drones and the Internet of Things. I love all of it.
Most people aren't wired that way. They want to use technology, and they want that technology to work for them, but they don't know which technology to purchase or how to use it when they get it. As a result, their lives end up being a confusing tangle of technologies that may or may not work the way that they were intended. Their technology isn't enhancing their life; it's making it more annoying (like when your iPhone keeps telling you that you are out of storage) or in some cases, more dangerous (like when you realize that the iPad game your 9-year old likes has a chat feature.) They are told of the amazing things technology can do, but are unsure which technology to buy that will do what it claims to do! So where do they go for answers?
The internet is filled with sites that offer reviews, suggestions, top-10 lists, tips, tricks, and the like that make most people more confused than when they started. It's technology written by nerds, for nerds. I love it! Most people don't.
WiredHousehold.com was put together as a place to offer advice and instruction related to technology that is written for the rest of us. I want to help you cut through the clutter of the internet, the tech sites, the fake reviews, the phony promises, and help you figure out how to purchase and use technology that will work for you. When technology works for you, it enhances your life. And that's my goal.
It's tech, for the rest of us.
